          Topic:  Immunology Subtopic: Health Equity

SESSION DESCRIPTION
A brief (no more than 150 words) session description suitable for inclusion in the final NEXUS 2026 website/app. The description should accurately reflect the session content and be worded in a way that entices the audience to attend.

Example for Title 1 above:

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will create a ripple effect across Medicare Part D formulary design, impacting multiple key stakeholders. It is critical to understand potential unintended consequences of the IRA on these stakeholders, including patients, PBMs and health plans, and 340B covered entities. What does research evidence tell us about existing Part D access to Drug Price Negotiation Program (DPNP)-selected drugs and therapeutic alternatives? How will changing incentives amidst the IRA affect PBMs and health plans, and what will this mean for their business model and formulary design decisions? What will it mean for 340B covered entities and patients?

This session will explore the changing incentives in formulary structure and drug utilization as IRA implementation proceeds, with an eye toward patient access. Current research on access to DPNP-selected drugs and 2025 Part D formularies, as well as anticipated trends and impacts on healthcare stakeholders, will be discussed.

NEEDS ASSESSMENT/KNOWLEDGE GAP INFORMATION
A description (at least 300 words) of why the topic addressed in the proposed session is important to managed care pharmacists, as well as the “knowledge gap” that the session will fill. Include a minimum of three citations to published information or evidence.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Provide at least three measurable, specific learning objectives that define what pharmacists should be able to do at the completion of the proposed session.. The objectives should address the identified needs and knowledge gap.

Learning objectives should begin with a verb and complete the sentence, “At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to ….” The verbs should be appropriate for the proposed session activity type (knowledge-based or application-based).

Knowledge-based CPE activities are primarily constructed to transmit knowledge (i.e., facts) and should only use verbs classified as knowledge-based. Application-based activities are constructed to apply (i.e., case studies, workshops, hands-on) the information learned in the time frame allotted and may use a mix of verbs classified as knowledge-based and application-based; however, the majority should be application-based.

For example, for a knowledge-based activity for the Example description above, the following objectives are appropriate:

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss changing incentives for Medicare Part D plan coverage of Drug Price Negotiation Program (DPNP)-selected drugs and therapeutic alternatives (TAs) as maximum fair prices go into effect and their potential impact on benefit design and patient access.
  2. Identify the potential impact of the DPNP on 340B margin and the likely impacts for patients at 340B covered entities.
  3. Describe early signals of overall changes to Medicare Part D formulary coverage amidst the IRA’s Part D benefit redesign.

CONFIRMED FACULTY
Please provide the confirmed faculty with their place of employment and a short bio. These faculty members agree to speak at NEXUS 2026 and are available during the conference dates. AMCP will not review or accept proposals where faculty have been invited, but not confirmed. The faculty members proposed should have a balanced view and include a managed care perspective.

If the proposed session has multiple faculty, the submitter is designated as the session coordinator. If the proposal is accepted, this person will serve as the main liaison with AMCP and will be responsible for ensuring that all requested information is submitted in a timely manner.

Submitters may either enter all faculty information themselves or invite faculty to enter and update their own information in the submission platform. Required faculty information includes contact information, professional information, a bio, and disclosure of relevant financial relationships. The submitter remains responsible for ensuring that all required information is complete for each faculty member.
