AMCP Nexus 2023 is the Place to Be for Student Pharmacists!
AMCP welcomes student pharmacists to experience the many educational, networking, and career-building facets of Nexus 2023. Here are five programs developed specifically for our student pharmacists and those who guide them.
SP1: Student Session | Practice Based Research: What, Why, and How?
Tuesday, Oct. 17 | 8:30–9:45am
Practice-based research is essential to assessing the impact of direct patient care services provided by managed care pharmacy on patient outcomes. Students, junior researchers, and practitioners often lack the necessary knowledge to conduct practice-based research, as highlighted by a recent survey of AMCP Foundation interns, where only 35% felt comfortable with real-world evidence methodologies. Understanding practice-based research concepts and methodologies enables the execution, dissemination, and utilization of research that aligns with the managed care pharmacy research agenda.
This session will provide a 25-minute didactic presentation on practice-based research concepts and methodologies followed by breakout groups to walk through conducting research with real-world examples. This session will help bridge the gap in knowledge and training among students, junior researchers, and practitioners improving their understanding of practice-based research concepts and methodologies
Student Pharmacist & New Practitioner Networking Reception
Tuesday, Oct. 17 | 6–7:30pm
Student pharmacists and new practitioners are invited to network with established managed care pharmacists who will share advice, career opportunities, and life experiences.
Student Leadership Academy
Wednesday, Oct. 18 |8am–Noon
New this year, AMCP will have a Student Leadership Academy! This event is open to all students to equip them with tools and best practices to improve their chapter’s experiences as well as professional development. An agenda and more information are coming in the next couple of weeks.

AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Residency and Fellowship Showcase
Wednesday, Oct. 18 | 5–7:30pm
The AMCP Managed Care Pharmacy Residency and Fellowship Showcase assists residency and fellowship preceptors, directors, residents, and fellows in fostering relationships with prospective candidates and exchanging valuable information about their managed care programs.
The showcase will open to P4s only from 5–6pm and to all from 6–7:30pm. AMCP welcomes all managed care post-graduate residency or fellowship programs’ participation in the Showcase. The deadline for space reservations is Tuesday, Sept. 19.
